For the hardcore mongers, this is pretty boring. For the BM's trashing on the locals all the time, this is a little dose of reality.
I was working a split shift today from 4 PM to 1 AM. I usually work days, but based on issues end up working various hours at times. I have a wonderful staff, all female, who are all educated locals. About 11 of them work directly for me in various positions, but we support a large number of employees. My direct staff are all pretty young and most are graduates form Holy Angel, AUF, etc. I spent a lot of time developing them with huge emphasis on integrity, something that is very rare here.
At 5 pm , they did not leave the office and kept hanging around. After a while, I noticed they were off duty but in front of the building. I asked one what was going on and she told me she was waiting for a scheduled meeting.
About 2 hours after their shift ended and one of my staff from the night shift showed up, they walk back in the office with a birthday cake and presents for me and start clapping and singing happy birthday. Then the whole office joined in. I was pretty taken back and shocked. They knew about my birthday and one had even contacted my live in for my clothes size. They had been planning this for 2 weeks and even my live in knew about it. I did not have a clue.
When I got home after my shift, my live in had a huge present she got me for my B day sitting on the sofa and and had cooked my dinner.
On Friday my live in and I will bar hop a little, then head to Subic on Saturday to go to Ocean Adventure.
When you live here full-time and your life does not rotate around the bars, it is quite a different experience. The bars and wild times are just a perk to living here. The bulk of our week rotates around work, school, the gym, and home. The weekends (once a week) are reserved for the wild times
